ABOUT

Connie is a vocalist, arranger and songwriter new to New York City. Often noted for her unique tone and sincerity, Connie brings her distinct style and personality to the tradition of straight ahead jazz, bringing emotional life to a sound that's both timeless and contemporary.

Studying classical piano since she was 7, it wasn't until Connie discovered the Great American Songbook that she truly found her voice in jazz vocals. Connie has drawn in audiences with her phrasing and melodic variation, inspired by icons like Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Carmen McRae and Betty Carter. Although she’s concentrated in jazz her musical interests span multiple genres, including R&B, soul and folk.

Prior to moving to New York City, Connie has studied under the tutelage of Living Legend of Jazz awardee Elena Gilliam and performed throughout the Los Angeles area at numerous venues, including opening for Grammy winner Bill Cunliffe at The Muckenthaler Cultural Center, and playing with acclaimed artists like Edmund Velasco and Mark Massey.

Now based in New York City, Connie immerses herself in rich jazz tradition, regularly attending sessions at city staples like Smalls, Mezzrow, Winnie’s Jazz Bar, and bringing her perspective to intimate jazz spaces throughout the city.
